5 Ways To Cure Your Game Of Thrones Hangover

4. Watch Something Similar

White Queen It's just a fact of life that we're not getting any new Game of Thrones on our televisions for something like nine and a half months, and so maybe it's time to watch something else. No, I'm not trying to insult your intelligence. Of course I know this has crossed your mind. I just thought I'd offer up a couple of suggestions. An obvious choice would be True Blood, which in recent years seems to have become something of a Post-Thrones replacement. What's interesting about True Blood in this case is the fact that before GoT started, it was something of a flag-ship show, and there's a correlation between True Blood's decline in quality and GoT's rise to power. While True Blood has dipped in quality over recent years (and I'm finding it pretty difficult to care enough to start watching the latest season), it has a vaguely similar origins to GoT, and maybe it's a show that can fill the gap for you. Over here in the UK however, True Blood won't be on for at least another six months, being one of the few shows that isn't immediately snapped up by UK broadcasters the second it airs in the US. But there's always The White Queen. Like GoT, The White Queen is an adaptation of a series of novels set in a similar time period to the imagined one of GoT. While it lacks the fantastical elements of George RR Martin's work, It seems the BBC want it to be 'Their' Game of Thrones, going even as far as to make it a ten episode series. Depending on your tastes, this might cure your GoT hangover, however I've personally not found myself enjoying it too much. So is there a show that I've been watching and actually enjoying that has something in common with GoT? Yes. I know it's not been everyone's favourite show, and I know there's a lot wrong with it, but I've been watching Da Vinci's Demons. It's far from perfect, but before quality TV became so prolific over the last few years, what show even came close to perfect? Sit back, ignore the historical inaccuracies and pretend that the main character just happens to share a name and setting with that rather famous historical figure and you might find yourself enjoying this slightly silly occasionally too convenient world. Of course you might enjoy True Blood or White Queen more, this is just me.
