5 Ways To Make The Walking Dead Spin-Off Series Work

3. Change The Pacing

Many people complain about the "slow burn" pacing of the original series. Season 2 was pretty heavy on interpersonal drama and a little light on the undead. The nice thing about this approach is that it offers more pathos than does the typical horror show, but it could get a tad threadbare if the same is done in the spin-off. One of the things about shows like 24 that kept us on the edges of our seats was frequently facing the characters with big decisions that had potentially game-changing consequences. I'm not saying that the answer is "24 with zombies" but with the right characters in the right situation (and strong, believable writing), a nice juxtaposition to the flow of the original would strike the right chord.
