5 Ways The Walking Dead Has Gone Downhill

1. The Enemy

It's just a little problematic that in a TV series about the reanimated dead, the zombies have become a little bit played out... Don't get me wrong, the make-up and special effects are just as good as they've always been and I even think that in its fourth season the show has actually upped the ante in the gore department. However, you can only see so many hundred zombies stabbed in the eye before it loses its impact. I remember when they released the teaser trailer for this latest series which stated that there would be a new enemy faced by the survivors. I was so excited/relieved that they were finally mixing things up. What did this new enemy turn out to be? The flu. I'm not saying I hate the zombies or anything like that; it's just that they function more as a secondary enemy in the series which allows a more menacing, calculating enemy to operate. The death of Merle Dixon and most recently The Governor means that the fascinating human enemies which once made The Walking Dead so exciting have dried up as well. Thankfully, I've had it from reliable sources that before too long we'll see the introduction of the cannibals which are such a pivotal part of the comic book series. If this turns out to be true it could well be brilliant.
