50 Greatest Doctor Who Moments

40. Eight Remembers Who He Is

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LtesEeqRsy4 The Eighth Doctor has an odd start. Sylvester McCoy yawns, and suddenly he's younger, more handsome and Messiah-like in a San Francisco hospital. But as Paul McGann dances through a garden, talking of Gallifrey, he feels like the Doctor. He's suddenly steeped in the history of a 35-year-old show, and he's as alien as Tom Baker in a scarf. He's thrilled that his shoes fit so perfectly: well, which other character would take a moment to notice something so small

39. Ten Saves Madame de Pompadour

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MSecHsvREd0 "This is my lover, the King of France." "Oh, yeah? Well, I'm the Lord of Time." Enough said, really.

38. "Life Is A Pile Of Good Things & Bad Things..."

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QjUKGfBW74o Nothing's ever simple in Doctor Who. Especially if you're watching Series 6. But back in Series 5 when we just had Rory-eating time cracks, Big Bang 2 and the mystery of River to think about, the Doctor gave one of the most quotable endings of any episode ever. 'Vincent and the Doctor' is a tearjerker, and it ends on the loveliest line possible. God bless you, Richard Curtis.

37. Time Lord Victorious

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rPm19FLMUzw We all wondered how far the Doctor could go. What his limits are. How did the lovable Tom Baker smile morph into the scowl of Eccleston? 'The Waters of Mars' ends with one of David Tennant's darkest moments, though. Before this episode, the memory of the Tenth Doctor would've been the smile, the wink and the back-and-forth taunting of the Sontarans. After this, we just have the image of Ten standing in front of a burning control pit. The video above is of the lead-up to him declaring himself the winner of his race. Just watch the look in his eyes turn evil over the course of the clip.

36. The Last Scene of the Classic Series

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f_1LKxS-iR0 It was to be the last Doctor Who scene for seven years. And it's quintessentially Who: Seven thumbing his lapels like William Hartnell, the Master gone AWOL and the start of a new adventure. It was a shame that we had to wait so long to see him again, but it was a touching end to the Classic series.
