6 Major DC Comics TV Reveals At New York Comic Con

1. Toyman Is Coming To National City

One of the most surprising announcements to come out of Supergirl's portion of this DC TV panel is that the villainous Toyman is coming to the CBS series. Jeremy Jordan plays Winn Scott in the show, a character most have assumed is either going to end up becoming that villain or simply shares his name with him the same way that The Flash's Caitlin Snow does with Killer Frost. Well, the actual Winslow Schott is coming to Supergirl this year, and in something of a baffling move, showrunner Ali Alder confirmed that, "there's definitely going to be a relationship between Toyman and Jeremy Jordan's character, Winn Scott." That really doesn't make a whole lot of sense unless the show is going to chuck in a subplot about how they have fairly similar names! Regardless, another villain who got the spotlight during the panel was Peter Facinelli's Maxwell Lord. Unfortunately, while it was initially thought that the Wonder Woman foe might step forward as Supergirl's big bad, he's sounding an awful lot like a poor man's Lex Luthor as of right now. "He's a billionaire. He wants to save the planet, but wants to do it through humanity," Facinelli explained. "Maxwell looks at these superheroes as a "distraction," and is very much in favour of humans taking on the threats against them by themselves." Supergirl continues to take its characters in pretty unexpected and surprising directions, but there's something undeniably intriguing about how it's going to play out, especially as the pilot was much better than expected! Still, the show risks alienating comic book fans with some of these sweeping changes, so it's going to need to work hard to pull them off.
