(Yes, the item pictured above is exactly what you think it is.) Ahem. This show is... sexy. Obviously. It's also really fascinating. You will likely learn some stuff. Lizzy Caplan is naked a lot. Michael Sheen is also naked a lot. So are several other rather attractive people. And, unlike a lot of shows on premium channels, the nudity ACTUALLY makes sense. Masters of Sex is a show about the famous (historical) research on human sexual response. Instead of people just randomly showing up naked onscreen for the sake of shock-value, people show up naked on screen for SCIENCE. That's right. Science. The show outlines the struggles of Dr. William Masters and Virginia Johnson as they attempt to study and further human understanding of sex during the late 1950's and through to the 60's and 70's. Can you imagine telling the hospital at which you are a respected doctor that you want to watch people have sex in an experiment? No? Well you don't have to, because this show tells you what happens. Incredibly, watching this historical drama never becomes tedious; even the supporting characters have stories I can't wait to find out more about. Keep an eye out for a certain female doctor played by Julianne Nicholson, whose character had one of the most jaw-dropping reveals I've ever seen on TV. If you don't have Showtime, catch this one when it comes out on DVD... or upgrade your cable. Yes, it's that good.
