6 Podcasts Being Adapted To TV (And 5 More That Should Be)
9. Adapted: Limetown (Facebook Watch)
Tragically cancelled before it could get to its second (and final) season, Limetown was one of the few original shows to premiere on Facebook's strange and short-lived foray into being a streaming service, and surprisingly compelling and high quality in its execution for the strangely muddled execution of its platform.
Jessica Biel gives an enthralling performance in an already intriguing story, where an investigative journalist seeks answers about the disappearance of an entire town years earlier, whose mysteries are beginning to reveal themselves over a decade after the event.
The story deviates somewhat from the podcast it draws from, but the performances remain compelling, the narrative mysterious and immersive, and the cinematography does a lot of legwork to deliver the unsettling yet beautiful atmosphere of the show.
Though it may have some flaws, it's a solid mystery show with a great cast that deserves better, and certainly serves as another example of how well fiction podcasts can translate into an exciting viewing experience. One hopes it might be saved and picked up for a second season, but for now, all that can be done is encourage people to watch the first season - entirely for free - on Facebook.
