6 Reasons Why The Jinx Is F*cking Incredible

3. Those One-Liners

The Jinx gives Jarecki license to put his masterful interviewing techniques into full flow. The questions he throws in Durst€™s direction stir up agonising moments of suspense, intrigue and a craving to get inside the mind of this perplexed individual. Jarecki is more interested in the spaces between the facts; as he knows, it€™s here where the real answers lie. As a viewer, these intimate moments of revelations and awkwardness fuel our curiosity. We€™re fascinated by strange people, and Durst is certainly one. His odd word choices, ticks and manner of speech draw us into his lifelong attempts to cover his tracks. Throughout its six episodes, Durst€™s leaves us open mouthed on more than one occasion after he spurts out many idiosyncratic and eye brow raising one-liners.

From lines such as €œI did not knowingly purposely intentionally lie€ Durst attempts, at any given time, to intentionally lie his way out of any situation. Throughout his life he€™s become bulletproof to these accusations and versions of all the events he€™s been linked to. He€™s lived his entire life on the run with this dark cloud hanging over him for three decades, and during the course of this series it€™s plain to see: his myth of events began with a simple lie.

Martin Scorsese fanboy; Can prove in 140-characters why Michael Bay is a hack, and I enjoy a bit of Gridiron at the weekends.
