6 Reasons Why The Jinx Is F*cking Incredible

2. Robert Durst Vs. Hot-Mics

The first few episodes play to a pace of setting out the story and suspected crimes of Durst in a general documentary format. As revealing and shocking as his crimes are, his backstory worked to the same rhythm and rhymes non-fictions movies do. However, our perceived opinions of Durst - which flip between hating to occasionally liking this guy - is completely thrust into loathing when he forgets about his live microphone.

During the topic of Susan Berman€™s unsolved death, Jarecki asks Durst some rather tough questions regarding his involvement, knowledge and whereabouts when Berman was brutally murdered. A heated exchange of words bounce between the two before Jarecki, sensing Durst is getting irate, called for them to have a break in proceedings. Jarecki exits screen leaving Durst alone in his chair, pondering the outcome of their hot debate. Unbeknown to Durst, the camera continues to roll and his lapel microphone ia still recording. Durst begins to mumble ramblings underneath his breath that could€™ve, if he wasn€™t stopped by his lawyer, been incriminating.

It's one of those moments you always wish would happen in any documentary but are always disappointed when the subject refrains or stops themselves mid-sentence. In the case of Robert Durst, he totally throws himself under the bus, strengthening the argument that Durst is an attention seeker, and maybe, just maybe, wanted this to happen.

Martin Scorsese fanboy; Can prove in 140-characters why Michael Bay is a hack, and I enjoy a bit of Gridiron at the weekends.
