6 Reasons Why The Jinx Is F*cking Incredible
1. Its Jaw-Dropping Finale
The Jinx's final episode will likely be remembered as one of those jaw-dropping moments in television history. And, to put the cherry on the cake, Robert Durst falls foul to another hot-mic incident.
Unlike the previous five, the sixth plays out like a Michael Moore manhunt in finding the truth when a letter written by Durst and sent to Berman falls into the grasps of the filmmakers that changes Jareckis feelings to Durst. The episode is set predominately in the New York office of the film producers, with Jarecki and his team trying to track Durst down for one final interview. With this confounding piece of evidence, the filmmakers know Durst simply cant lie his way out of dodge this time.
Durst is one elusive guy though. He sidesteps his way out of numerous agreed dates for the interview citing scheduling conflicts - one of which sees Durst claim to be vacationing in Madrid, until they find out he was actually in Los Angeles. As the finale comes towards its conclusion, they finally get their guy and Durst agrees to sit down and chat.
Before their conversation, Jarecki meticulosity plots out how the interview may pan out, making sure the questions and evidence hell present wont lead Durst to get up and leave. As it progresses, nothing too strenuous is presented to Durst, with Jarecki allowing him to speak for himself or lie - which was the plan all along. They wanted him to stew it over, possibly trip himself up and realise they had backed him into a corner with no where to turn.
Once the interview is over, Durst heads off to the bathroom, clearly shaken by the evidence shown to him, and the curse of the hot-mic bites him once again. This time he goes ahead and says those incriminating mumblings he nearly spoke the time before, and the game is up. Thirty-two years of dodging bullets and escaping jail had finally caught up with the multi-millionaire-heir.
