6 Reasons Why You Need To Watch Ted Lasso
1. Jason Sudeikis
To pull off a character that is non-stop smiling and positive, and yet create an edge underneath the surface that has negative feelings and severe self-doubt, is a hard thing to do.
Fortunately, Jason Sudeikis takes his comic creation and never stops allowing him to grow before our eyes. The episode, Make Rebecca Great Again, really showcases everything that makes Ted human.
As he is obliged to sign the divorce papers, ending his marriage to somebody he genuinely does love, Ted shows a vulnerability and a side of him that has abandoned that trademark optimism for the doldrums of adulthood. Though it may not last long, it makes the audience relate to Ted on another level, one that brings home the hard fact that sometimes we all hurt.
He has all the problems of a real person and has to go through one of the worst experiences of his life during the first season but comes out not only wiser but more determined to spread his message of spirit to the rest of the team.
Jason Sudeikis' decision to bring Ted Lasso into the real world from a bunch of skits could have gone so wrong, but with the right approach and mentality, it may be as inspired as Belushi and Ackroyd once were to bring Jake and Elwood to life.
