3. The Intrigue

Joe Weisberg, the creator and producer of "The Americans," got his inspiration from 2010 scandal known as the Illegals Program, where the FBI found 10 Russian sleeper agents living in suburbs throughout the U.S. Although the show is set 30 years earlier, the premise is not entirely implausible. This is what makes the show so intriguing. The Jennings speak with perfect American accents and act like your typical everyday American family in the suburbs, fooling mostly everyone. Obviously the show is very dramatized, but it can still make you think about who your next-door neighbor really is.
