2. The Sex
"The Americans" is a sexy show, as any espionage show should be. There is a lot of sex. The sex is kinky, funny, realistic and sometimes quite shocking. When we're first introduced to Elizabeth, she's decked out in a blonde wig giving some stranger a blow job to get information. FBI agent Stan starts to cheat on his wife with the Soviet mole Nina, but their chemistry is so good that we actually begin to root for them as a couple. Unlike on premium cable channels like HBO and Showtime, the nudity on FX is never gratuitous. For "The Americans," that's a good thing. The show has just the right amount of bare bottoms without being over-the-top.
