6 Supporting TV Characters Who Stole The Show (And 3 Who Never Should Have)
Those Who Stole The Show...
6. Jughead Jones - Riverdale
Riverdale may be based on the Archie Comics, but it wasn't Archie Andrews who ended up resonating with viewers, as fans found themselves drawn to his moody best friend, Jughead Jones.
A self-proclaimed outcast and weirdo, Jughead was a reclusive writer who just didn't fit into the high school environment and, in spite of the fact that Archie was one of popular kids, he still found himself on the wrong end of hateful tirades from the jocks. However, little did those guys know that whenever horror struck Riverdale, that reclusive writer was their only hope for salvation.
Thus, everything that made him an outcast in the 'real world' also resulted in him being the most equipped to handle the outlandish situations that ensued. With his penchant for investigating and knack for getting to the truth, the young novelist soared ahead of his red-haired protagonist in terms of usefulness to the plot, playing a major role in cracking the murder of Jason Blossom and unmasking the Gargoyle King.
It may have worked in his favour that the writers clearly still have no idea what to do with Archie, but the fact of the matter is that, given Jughead's mysterious alluring nature and the fact that he's one of the only few people in Riverdale to speak actual sense (it also helps that he looks like Cole Sprouse), the character was always destined to steal the show.
Kicking things off as a hidden gem, Jughead has ascended to become Riverdale's truest star and, in hindsight, it's clear that this was undoubtedly in the show's best interests.
