6 Things Sleepy Hollow Got Right

1. Character Development Is Key

Many TV shows come out, get popular and don't develop their characters past the first few episodes. So you're left with characters that don't grow an inch in development and are pretty much the same in season 12 as they were in season 1. Do you see anything wrong with this? That's where Sleepy Hollow differs greatly (thanks to great writing). When we meet up with Abbie and Ichabod in episode 1, Ichabod is a fish out of water and Abbie is an uptight skeptic. By mid-season, she's grown closer to her estranged sister and Ichabod is slowly growing accustomed to modern society. So too has Orlando Jones' Capt. Irving evolved from barely tolerating the two Witnesses to actively helping them in their cause. Though it's not specifically a character development issue, a romance between Abbie and Ichabod has not been force-fed down our throats in some sort of 'lost in time' love triangle. Ichabod is still actively trying to free his wife from Purgatory and reunite with her. And Abbie is presumably doing her own thing. But it shows growing bonds of friendship and shared purpose that wasn't there in the first few episodes. Smart. Very Smart. So there we have it. What do you think? Do you agree?
