6 Ups & 0 Downs From Doctor Who Series 12 - Ascension Of The Cybermen

5. The Darker Doctor Is Still Present

The Doctor
BBC

After the events of The Haunting of Villa Diodati, The Doctor has put herself in one hell of a predicament. She gave the Lone Cyberman what it wanted, against Jack's instructions in Fugitive of the Judoon. Come Ascension of the Cybermen, she's brought herself and her companions into an even more dire situation. As usual with the Cybermen, humans are hunted down and upgraded. Graham, Yaz, and Ryan are in the firing line.

The Doctor demands they leave the planet with the humans, no questions asked. After a loud argument with the trio, they leave. This Doctor is hugely regretful of what she did, and she's now feeling the effects of riding a wave with no concrete plan. Lashing out at her companions, and with absolutely no idea of what's to hit her as the episode progresses, Doctor Thirteen's darker, more relentless side is showing evermore, and it provides excellent, edge-of-your-seat viewing.
