Emmy He Should Have Won: Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series & Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series For His Roles: Agent Fox Mulder on The X-Files & Hank Moody on Californication David Duchovny been been nominated four times for three different categories in the Emmys and has even won two Golden Globes for The X-Files and Californication, respectively. He's established himself as a legitimately terrific actor as well as a cult hero, and has proven that he is incredibly dynamic, excelling in drama and comedy, often in the same performances. In his work in the X-Files as Fox Mulder he embodied a character that so many people could relate to and brought him completely to life in a believable way. The chemistry between he and Gillian Anderson's Scully is one of the most enticing aspects of the show and certainly one of the best romances television has ever seen, as unconventional as it may be. His Emmy nods were well deserved, but the guy deserved the award and it's a pity it never happened. Californication is much more heavily a comedy and the Emmys have yet to recognize Duchovny's stellar work on the show as recovering drug addict and on-going sex addict, Hank Moody. It's a performance that goes deeper than it might appear in the first season, and shows the range he's capable of, being incredibly witty while also being emotionally unstable and damaged. Those who thought he could never get cooler than Fox Mulder were wrong when this show came along, and it's equally as deserving of the Emmy.
