7 Actors Who Should've Won An Emmy But Never Did

5. Michael C Hall

Emmy He Should Have Won: Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series & Outstanding Lead Actor In A Drama Series For His Roles: David Fischer on Six Feet Under & Dexter Morgan on Dexter Television lost out on one of its most consistent and brilliant actors these year with the end of Dexter. It's likely enough that Michael C Hall will come back to star in another television show in the near future, but what are the chances that it will be in a role as brilliant as that of Dexter Morgan? Then again, he did also portray another fascinating character in the early 2000's; David Fisher in HBO's Six Feet Under. So maybe there's hope after all that another role will come along that is worthy of his immense talent. In Six Feet Under, Hall played David Fisher, an openly gay character who is also a co-owner of family-run funeral home. It's one of the best television shows ever made and the cast is absolutely pitch perfect. David Fisher is particularly interesting because of his juggling of professionalism in the job and the emotions that come with it. At the beginning of the show his character feels professional, yes, but also somewhat robotic and emotionally detached. He becomes a much warmer character as the show progresses, and like every other character on the show experiences emotional ups and downs on the more extreme ends of the spectrum. Hall is a pro and makes you believe and feel the highs and lows as he does. Hall's performance is even more impressive because of his fearless performance as a gay character, in one of the truest and perhaps even most explicit portrayals of a gay character on television. In case you didn't know, Hall is indeed straight. Much better known as the titular character in Showtime's Dexter, Hall is given much more sinister material to work with, and he completely engulfs the character in another brave and brilliant performance. The quality of Dexter is highly debated towards the end of the show's eight season run, but there's no denying that Dexter Morgan is a consitently compelling character brought to life by Hall's complex performance as a serial killer with fascinating morals who tries to juggle work, family life and well, being a serial killer. He's been nominated for both roles and has even won a Golden Globe and Screen Actors Guild Award for Dexter, but no Emmy win, which is a real shame.
