Anime loves to bring out fun and fantasy to show how strong the power of friendship truly is and this is no more relevant than the beloved magical girl genre. Well, this is not that kind of show. Once being given the chance to become a real-life magical girl while playing a mobile game, Koyuki Himekawa is able to live out her childhood dream of helping people as a magical girl of justice.

After meeting the other magical girls who were also brought in by the mysterious familiar spirit Fav, Koyuki is overjoyed to be able to work with them and make her city a safe place. That is until Fav informs the sixteen magical girls that there are too many for the city, and they need to cut down their numbers by fifty percent. Creating a contest where the one who gains the least amount of magical candies for doing good deeds every week loses their magical girl abilities, Koyuki and her new partner La Pucelle do their best to ensure that they can continue to be helpful magical girls.

That is until the end of the very first week, where it is revealed that whoever loses their magical girl abilities also loses their life. The once peaceful race of doing as much good as possible has now become a competition of life and death, with deception and betrayal around each corner. Terrified of what could happen to her, Koyuki has no choice but to play Fav’s game and do what she can to survive.
