3. School-Live! (Gakkou Gurashi!)
Who doesn’t love a group of cute girls going through high school and helping each other deal with anything that life throws at them? An adorable slice of life that follows Yuki Takeya, her adorable pup Taromaru and the rest of the School Living Club, as they face everyday problems with a smile on their face. It really seems like a cute show with a lovable cast of young girls who want nothing more than to spend time together and have fun enjoying their school lives.
That is until the end of the first episode where it is revealed that everything is not fine, and the girls are actually trying to survive a zombie apocalypse. Yes, zombies have taken over Japan, and these girls are the last ones alive in a school surrounded by hordes of the undead. Cue the psychological trauma involved with being a young girl in a zombie apocalypse, and you got a recipe for a huge slice of “what the hell just happened” pie.
Not for the faint of heart, the series shows what could happen to an adolescence when put through an event so traumatic that they pretend as though nothing happened. Now can someone give me a hug? I think I need one after watching this for the third time.
