7 Best Spider-Man TV Shows

7. Spider-Man (1967)

rsz_2spidey While it doesn't necessarily fit into the realm of 'best', Spider-Man was the first animated series featuring the hero only a few years after his comic book sprung onto shelves. The animation is bizarre, and irrelevant, with basic plot-holes, weird occurances, and generally awful voice acting. In that case, why is Spider-Man (1967) on this list? It's like a puppy. It doesn't know any better, and it's hard to stay mad at it. It's certainly of a bad quality, but there's this undefinable shine to it. Why is there an ant and a tick on his back? Why does his mask look like Hogwart's sorting hat when it's off his head? Why does the title sequence depict him swinging without actually using his arms? Who knows. Animation was obviously not mastered by that point, but my point is that we accept Spider-Man (1967) as a product of it's time, and as an out of context funny show. After a while you just learn to love it FOR its faults. Regardless of contemporary reactions to hilarity, Spider-Man did quite well in it's original time frame of the 1960's, except for it's constant struggle with budgets. I suppose there was only so much the animators could do. Rest in peace, old 60's Spidey, you magnificent man, you.
