7 Best Spider-Man TV Shows

6. Ultimate Spider-Man (2012 - Ongoing)

ULTIMATE SPIDER-MAN Ultimate Spider-Man, the most recent incarnation of Spider-Man animation. I know fan reactions are generally remixed, while some people quite enjoy the show. Thing is, it has super crisp animation, oodles of guest appearances, and basically access to any storyline it wants to recreate. While that's all fine and dandy, Ultimate Spider-Man feels like it's stretching the source material too thin. Most of the dialogue is just gags and quips, and once again we've ended up with a teenage Spider-Man who most of the time has adult supervision from the likes of S.H.I.E.L.D. Ultimate Spider-Man the comic book was a revolutionary altering of the status-quo in Spider-Man lore that presented an alternate universe that told the story of Spider-Man in a more modernized fashion. The name in that sense is used for this show to imply things are alternate to the likes of the movies and comics, whilst sadly abandoning most threads of the Ultimate Spider-Man comic. Being a show on Disney, it means the episodes rarely have a lot of tension, or peril which are quite essential to Peter's character. Instead we get a bunch of goofy humour (Not the kind associated with the character), and a severe lack of danger. The fundamental prospect of him being on a team with the likes of White Tiger, and Nova is also just unneeded. Ultimate Spider-Man is an optimistic mishmash of Spider-Man elements, packaged with fresh animation for Marvel's parent company Disney. It isn't 'bad' by definition, but certainly it seems to abandon Marvel's original audience somewhat and misses out on what could have been, while it's still an okay animation.
