7 Best Spider-Man TV Shows

5. Supaidaman (Spider-Man, 1978)

rsz_1spiderman_dvd1_usa Easily the most bizarre, and interesting iteration of Spider-man on the list, Supaidaman (Spider-Man) was a Japanese TV show created by Toei after they briefly acquired the rights for Spider-Man from Marvel Comics. The show features around 22-year old motorcycle rider Takuya Yamashiro who is injected with spider DNA by an alien known as Garia. With his new found powers, of strength, speed, and the ability to shoot webs he seeks revenge against the Iron Cross Army for his father's death. Doesn't sound too insane right? Well each episode briefly featured Spider-Man fighting his foes as he traditionally does, with agility and strength. However towards the end of the episode, that episode's enemy would enlarge before Spider-Man can defeat him. This mean't Spider-Man would summon Leopardon, a giant robot which Spider-Man pilots in order to win the battle. While silly, and completely irrelevant, the show was incredibly entertaining, and just completely addictive. The main continuity is Spider-man's powers and his suit. Other than that, it's basically just playing on the popularity of the character. Strangely enough, the sheer success of the series established a on-going series in Japan known as 'Super Sentai' which would eventually lead to several teams of heroes, who pilot giant robots like Spider-Man did. One particular series would be known in the U.S as The Power Rangers.
