7 Best Spider-Man TV Shows

4. Spider-Man Unlimited (2000)

rsz_spider-man_unlimited Spider-Man Unlimited originally aired in the year 2000, and featured a more unconventional look at Spider-Man. It deals with the idea of alternate or 'counter' earths and realities. After James Jonah Jameson's son ventures into counter-earth Spider-Man decides it's up to him to save him. He immediately discovers the world is ruled by animal/human hybrids known as the 'beastials' and they live in somewhat of a dictatorship, with the remaining humans being an underground resistance factor. Spider-Man's suit is made of 'nanomachines' and is a technological rendition of his usual get-up. The idea of this is to play into the show's exploration of science fiction themes, along with a mild dystopian feel. Venom and Carnage feature heavily as the series dominant villains, with alternate versions of Spidey's other villains such as The Green Goblin, and Vulture. The general plot of the show is completely new territory only briefly touched upon in the comic books, in order to offer something different after the incredibly successful Spider-Man: TAS that aired in the mid 90's. The show was incredibly intriguing and interesting. Admittedly it does stray away from the character quite heavily, and what you typically expect from a Spider-Man cartoon, but instead it offers a highly refreshing experience. It pulled from ideas of Spider-Man 2099 quite heavily, and seemed to be marketed at a relatively more mature audience. Spider-Man Unlimited was a good show regardless of how you consider it. It's a shame its run only lasted a short season of 13 episodes, and even it's season finale was never truly finished.
