The Russo Brothers, of You, Me, and Dupree and Arrested Development fame, directed several episodes of Community during its original run. They also produced the first three seasons, with each end credits sequence ending with "A Dan Harmon/Russo Brothers Something."

Joe Russo's Season 2 episode For a Few Paintballs More, a Star Wars parody which plays like an action comedy, likely served as the duo's audition tape for a little film called Captain America: The Winter Soldier. The second Marvel Cinematic Universe/Captain America film was such a success that it reinvigorated the character's popularity and convinced Marvel to hire the brothers for three more films: Captain America: Civil War, Avengers: Infinity War, and Avengers: Endgame, which became the highest grossing movie of all time.

Despite their work for Marvel, the Russos have also directed the definitive version of Batman: Danny Pudi's interpretation.
