2. How Varys Was Cut ("And Now His Watch Is Ended")
Varys has always been something of a mysterious figure on Game of Thrones, and one of the few solid facts that we know about him is the fact that he is a eunuch. When Tyrion comes to visit him to inquire about Cersei's role in the attempt on his life, Varys gives him an entirely different story than Tyrion had hoped for. The speech itself is interesting enough to read; as presented on screen, however, it is utterly chilling. As Varys speaks, he works at opening a large wooden crate, the contents of which we--and Tyrion--are unaware. Finally, as he finishes the tale of his castration, he pries the lid off of the crate. Inside, a man cowers in his own filth, starving and with his lips sewn shut. Varys found his sorcerer, and from the expression on his face, the Spider has the stomach for this revenge.
