7 Huge Mistakes Made By Game Of Thrones Characters

4. Anyone Trusting Littlefinger

It€™s a testament to the manipulative spells he can weave that anyone at any point ever trusts Petyr Baelish. But that€™s one of the things that make him such an intriguing character and arguably the architect of all the events unfolding in the series. Keep in mind he was the one who helped set in motion the attempted murder of Bran, and then turns around and lies right to the Catelyn€™s face about who may have been behind it. In fact he over and over again uses his past relationship with Catelyn to not only gain favor with her but trust with Ned. And what does he do with that trust? He betrays Ned to the Lannisters for his own gain after he explicitly tells Ned €œDon€™t trust me!€ (Sometimes I think Ned€™s a bit naive, but more on that later.) So it seems he€™s basically side by side with the Lannisters then, but once again his own ambitions are all that really matter to Littlefinger. He stirs a pot of lies and deceit with seemingly no remorse. It was his work that ends up with Jon Arryn being dead. He€™s the one primarily responsible for Joffrey€™s murder. And why you ask? His explanation to Sansa sums it all up: you make moves against your enemies that are seemingly unmotivated. That in turn removes you from suspicion. All of this to shift the pieces on the board so he can get what he ultimately wants, €œEverything.€

I've been a huge sci-fi fan ever since going to see "Star Wars" at the tender age of 3 (and yes I actually do remember it! I love pretty much any intelligent and entertaining film and television series (some of my all time favorites are 2001, Lawrence of Arabia, Battlestar Galactica [SyFy], and The West Wing). Must thank the stars above for such things as HBOGO and Netflix (Am thoroughly enjoying Ripper Street btw). I've also been an avid comic book collector since childhood. I earned a bachelor's degree in creative writing with a second emphasis in film studies from Florida State University (Go Noles!) and definitely enjoy sitting back and watching pretty much any sports. I wish I had a joke to end with, but I don't so I'll simply say "The End."
