7 Life Lessons Orange Is The New Black Season 2 Taught Me

6. Even Perverts Fall In Love

NetflixNetflixAnother character who has managed to surprise even the most cynical of audiences is George "Pornstache" Mendez. At the interception of Orange is the New Black, George was just your average evil, conniving pervert. Yet, in season two he also turns a corner and admits his love for Daya. This is particularly sad because he believes he got the poor girl pregnant when, in fact, we all know he didn't. And she isn't a poor girl, in case no one else has noticed that girl is running the whole show having COs wrapped around her pudgy pregnancy fingers. In the past you may have been forgiven for believing that perverts, who exploit women and think they're God's gift to them, have no feelings. But, wait... George does. He's doing the whole pervert nation a service by showing that, despite the fact that he is willing to tell girls to suck a McDonald's burger out of his penis, he is an actual person who can fall in love. The stand out moment when you truly buy his new found love for Daya has to come in episode six of season two, when he sends her a valentines card. Now call me a romantic, but this made me tear up. There is something tragic about the whole situation and suddenly we go from sympathising with Daya to feeling for George. It's truly worthwhile to remember that no matter how filthy and perverted a man (or woman) may be, they are also probably capable of falling in love.
