7 Most Hotly Anticipated Upcoming TV Series This Fall
2. Agent Carter (ABC, January 2015)
We are cheating a bit with this one as it is technically next year but it's too awesome sounding to pass up. A Captain America spin-off and sister series to Agents of SHIELD, Agent Carter sees the most welcome return of Peggy Carter to our screens after her appearances in the Captain America movies and her titular one-shot short film. Previously an agent fighting the Nazis alongside Cap as well as being his beau, Peggy will be working for the Strategic Science Reserve at the beginning of the series while also embarking on missions for Howard Stark and (hopefully) pitting herself against a host of period threats. Agent Carter's eight-episode run is set to air in January next year, during Agents of SHIELD's mid-season break, which is a much better prospect than last year's inconsistent AoS run and feels a little bit like eating half of an easter egg only to discover that there's another, possibly more delicious one inside the first. Original Peggy actor Hayley Atwell is returning, as is The First Avenger's Howard Stark, Dominic Cooper. This continuity is encouraging, as is the fact that both the writers and directors of The Winter Soldier are contributing their not inconsiderable talents to the series. It already sounds too good to be true, but knowing the MCU as it is, could we possibly see some historical Marvel figures like the original Human Torch, Baron Zemo and even Namor make appearances?
