7 Reasons Rachel Is An Utterly Horrible Character In Friends

7. The One Where She Left Her Fiance At The Altar, Only To Sleep With Him Months Later While He's Engaged To Her Old Best Friend

An unwritten rule with long-lasting friendships is certainly to not fight over the same guy or girl €“ depending on sexuality of course €“ let alone actually sleep with them. But it's that cardinal sin Rachel Green has broken with little thought on the consequences of her actions. In the first Friends episode, Rachel is seen as a runaway bride who escaped through the bathroom window during her nuptials to Dr Barry Farber, citing how she was attracted to his money rather than him as a person. Such an act defined her as a character as Rachel was a spoiled girl, but became her own person with her own money, and somebody like Barry wasn't good enough for her. However, fast-forward two years and Rachel was back inexplicably sleeping with him knowing he's engaged to Mindy, her high-school best friend who was also Rachel's maid of honour when she ran out on Barry at the wedding. What's worse is that when she eventually tells Mindy about sleeping with him, she joins forces with Mindy to turn the heat on Barry to call him a cheater and criticise his actions. Despite Rachel being the one he's cheated on, somehow Barry is the only one taking flak. It's astounding Rachel could do such a thing to a friend, and what's worse is the show decided to throw a humour aspect at it so we wouldn't notice just what a horrible thing Rachel has done. Well, I wasn't fooled....
