7 Reasons Why Avatar: The Last Airbender Is The Most Complete TV Show Ever
2. Love Angles That Don't Overshadow The Main Story
Who doesn’t like a good love story? Especially if you are following a group of characters on their journey for a years, it is vital you see them grow and develop - a natural result of which is the budding of various love angles. But it can become a bit of a hindrance if these love angles start getting in the way of the main plot. A lot of shows get so caught up with the romantic stuff, it starts taking screen time away from the most important things.
As always, Avatar evades this storytelling trap and manages to keep the romance to itself without bogging down the whole thing. The Aang-Katara dynamic gets a real slow burn, with each step towards their eventual union being methodically paced and never overshadowing their actual goals.
Elsewhere, Sokka has to first experience heartbreak when his first love Yue sacrifices herself to re-establish the moon. And his second romance with Suki also takes its time working out.
All of these felt organic and when the lovers did finally share that passionate kiss, even the viewer could tell how much they had to wait and sacrifice for it.
