7 Reasons Why I Am Not Okay With This Season 2 Must Happen
6. The Quality Of The Writing
In terms of the adaptation from the source material, I Am Not Okay With This was fairly well followed. What the show managed to do beyond the pages of the comic was lift it into reality with its dialogue and detailed plot.
There just wasn't a moment that felt like it was too loose or losing traction of where the story needed to be, it was tight and controlled, free without being wayward. Most teen shows are written for their audience and feature some horrible dialogue and over-dramatic plot lines, but I Am Not Okay With This never feels that way.
It felt real, in the sense that this is how a teenager would react with the discovery of powers, and fully capable of pulling in a more mature audience.
I Am Not Okay With This was made to highlight the world that adolescence creates socially in the microcosm of school, as well as be a tale of a girl with supernatural abilities.
It had so many ways that people could arrive at it and still love it. Whether you're a comic book fan, or just looking for a new series to binge on Netflix, it was never made to feel mutually exclusive to a single audience and because of that, it was all-encompassing.
