5. Aaron Sorkin Dialogue and the Walk and Talk
You cant beat Aaron Sorkin for dialogue. This isn't an opinion, this is a fact. No other series can claim to rival the fast paced, witty and intelligent dialogue of The West Wing. This was no fluke, as Sorkin has since shown off his massive talent in the Oscar nominated The Social Network and the absurdly underrated series Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip. While the walk and talk was hardly a new story-telling technique, its use by Thomas Schlamme in The West Wing was revolutionary. This technique allowed scenes of pure dialogue to take on the guise of action, instead of being a very dry scene of characters sitting/standing and merely talking. It gave the viewer a real feel of the fast pace environment of the White House, which is why the walk and talk was just as important to The West Wings success as Sorkins dialogue.
