7 Reasons Why You Should Watch One-Punch Man
2. Because It Serves As A Cautionary Tale
Analyzed at length by the good people at Wisecrack, the deeper level of the series presents how pointless a life without conflict actually is. When he was a child, Saitama wanted to become the world's most powerful superhero, who could knock out every villain with one punch. Once he's able to do so, he's disillusioned with the life of a superhero. In need of a challenge, Saitama often prefers inaction to participation in crucial and important events.
In a sense, the series is about what happens when your dreams come true. You've become the man you've always wanted to be at such a young age and with such ease... what now? An object of admiration and jealousy, Saitama personifies the dream every other superhero has - to be the strongest man on the planet - yet since it's his reality, this super power doesn't seem that appealing to him.
It's really interesting to see how he deals with further challenges - or lack thereof - of being the strongest man alive. Hopefully the second season will provide Saitama with new opportunities to exhibit his lack of interest.
