7 Reasons You Need To Watch FX's Snowfall
4. It Gets Drugs Right
Throughout the series people are taking cocaine and having a good time, albeit with one notable exception. Instead of stigmatizing drugs, the series instead shows that their usage can make one feel exceptional, elated. Still, it's probable that with time those squandering will have to face the consequences. Also, those abusing cocaine are shown as crazy, fickle characters, which gets across the lack of balance between euphoria and anger induced by the drug.
When it comes to other drugs, the show doesn't criticize marijuana usage, and instead of condemning it as a gateway drug, treats smoking a joint more like a night cap, which allows one to recline after a hard day. It's OK for Franklin to sell weed, but cocaine is a whole different story.
It's not like marijuana is harmless, but it's good that the show doesn't group all drug users under the addict label, which would be the comfortable and stereotypical thing to do.
