7 Reasons You Need To Watch FX's Snowfall
3. Franklin Is A Compelling Protagonist
Franklin is a confused individual. He's only 19 and he knows what he wants - to do the right thing. His surname isn't "Saint" without a reason. He loves his mother and leaves school to be closer to her, and he sells drugs to provide for her. She also goes out of her way to put food on the table, with real bond between the two.
In some ways he may seem even unreal - he doesn't drink or does drugs, studies by himself, works extremely hard, yet is respected by everybody in his neighborhood. It's clear that he wouldn't have the street connections without his uncle, as he's just too busy to socialize and meet new people.
The problem with Franklin's way of thinking is that he's too concerned with himself. After all, he treats his community as a market, instead of a social group. Not to be over-dramatic, but Franklin brings death to his neighborhood. As opposed to marijuana, cocaine is a very serious, addictive drug. By deciding to sell to "his people," Franklin makes a very controversial decision.
