7 Reasons You Need To Watch FX's Snowfall
1. The Style
The show is masterfully shot. While sometimes the first episodes look much better than the rest of the show, according to some reviews of the first six episodes it's safe to say that here it's not the case.
Conveying the feel of a previous time is no easy task, but the show successfully catches the mood of the 1980s in California. Especially in the scenes in South Central. There's the palm trees, kids playing on the streets and grown men hanging out on their porches or working out in their front yards. That's the picture of California Singleton already presented in Boyz n the Hood or Poetic Justice.
The most notable thing regarding the show's production is that Singleton ordered to take out the bars in the windows to make the neighborhood feel like during the time before the crack epidemic. The sunny, warm "hood" feels innocent despite some crime occurring here and there. This is supposed to change in later episodes though.
