George Takei has featured in quite a few episodes of Futurama over the years but his first episode is perhaps one of the more iconic occasions the star has appeared on the show. This episode was one that went down extremely well with the Futurama superfans and super nerds around the world.

The episode, Where No Man Has Gone Before, starts off with Fry learning that Star Trek has been banned on his home planet, Earth, for a few hundred years. In an attempt to right this wrong, he tracks down the actors from the show and thus the greatest sci-fi animation baby is born.

George Takei was featured alongside a number of the original Star Trek cast members, including William Shatner, Nichelle Nichols, Walter Koenig, as well as Jonathan Frakes from The Next Generation.

Takei was reportedly a great sport while filming and made very few demands besides having a more humorous character. Takei hadn’t made much of a social media presence for himself, but after the episodes started airing and everyone realised the wicked sense of humour he had, it all changed. Who would say no to a star asking to have more jokes added in?
