7 Ways Friends Lied To Us

6. Your Emotional Relationships Will Be Healthier

friends_monicachandler Pretty much the main focus of the show was the emotional relationships the characters had. In fact I think it would be fair to say that Ross and Rachel's relationship was the main point of the series for most of the seasons. And let's not forget that when a character was romantically involved with someone else (whether or not it was one member of the group or somebody else they just met) it was a big plot point in the episode. But, in reality every single one of them would die alone. Let's take for example Monica and Chandler's relationship; while I felt this moment was made purely for marketing reasons you have to admit that the characters at least had some kind of chemistry. I mean, who could not forget when she told him that she'll never date him in her life and that he may have a chance if the humanity went extinct. Because that's how a good relationship starts. Not only that, one of the biggest traits Monica had was that she was desperate when it came to have a family. She even broke up with a nice guy just because he didn't want to have children and she even considered doing it again with Chandler. You wouldn't like to have someone like that next to you, trust me. But that's not it, because in real life, Ross and Rachel's relationship wouldn't have passed the first few weeks. That game they had of "Oh I love you, but now I don't want to be with you until I see that you're happier with somebody else" should be considered emotional abuse. None of them should have tolerated it. Rachel should be considered a Homewrecker, because not once, not twice, but actually 3 times she made Ross end a good relationship she had just because she was jealous. And what did she did after that? She lost interest. In reality, you don't have to tolerate that thing. Hell, you wouldn't allow it to happen once. And if you saw that someone tried to do that thing to you more than once you'll definitely break every communication with that person, because a "friendship" like that isn't healthy for you. If Ross wanted to be happy he shouldn't have come back with her and lived a good life with someone else.
