8 Awful TV Shows That Were Clearly Doomed To Fail
6. Skins
I think we all know teens are having sex at a young age. However, we don't need to see it and we really don't want to hear them talk about it. Skins was first a show in the UK that went on for several seasons. Reviews were generally positive, and that was enough for MTV because of course America needed their own version. The show might have been somewhat successful, if they hadn't used underage actors and had them perform what is basically soft-core porn.
MTV already had a show about whorish teens. It was called Undressed, and I thought it was awesome. This...is just gross. And MTV's audience is getting younger and younger. Not to sound like a prude, but I don't think 13 year olds should be watching a show where teens change sex partners like I change my underwear. One night stands were the main focus, as well as what counts as cheating. I'd like to add MTV had the balls to say it's up to the parents to monitor what their kids watch. While true, why would a channel that is marketed to the 13-17 age bracket air programs that encourage risky behavior? MTV didn't care. What finally stopped the show was a potential child pornography lawsuit. But still, Skins managed to air for 10 episodes before it all came crashing down.
