4. House Of Cards: How Will Frank Underwood Be Written Out?

The biggest challenge facing House of Cards is one that was forced on Netflix by the sexual misconduct scandal Kevin Spacey has found himself embroiled in.

The acclaimed political drama's sixth season was originally scheduled to arrive this spring, but production was swiftly suspended when the show's lead actor was accused of making unwanted sexual advances towards Star Trek: Discovery actor Anthony Rapp, who was just 14 years old at the time in question.

In the days which followed, further allegations were made against Spacey, this time from current and former House of Cards employees. Netflix went on to confirm that the disgraced star has been fired from the show completely.

Production on House of Cards' sixth and final season has resumed, but all previously-shot footage of Spacey's Frank Underwood will be binned and the story has been rejigged to focus squarely on Robin Wright's Claire Underwood.

Claire's presidency is expected to be the focal point of Season 6, and that just leaves one burning question: how will Frank Underwood be written out of the story? Killing him off-screen seems to be one of the few available options the writers can call on.

In the original British version of House of Cards, Frank's counterpart Francis Urquhart was killed by a sniper in the big finale. Perhaps Spacey's character will end up suffering the same fate between seasons.
