1. Mr Bergstrom
Mr Bergstrom, played by a certain Sam Etic (who by remarkable coincidence sounds a lot like Dustin Hoffman) is the positive male role model everyone shouldve had growing up. Bursting through the classroom door dressed as a deliberately anachronistic cowboy to take over Lisas class, he proceeds to teach her that life is worth living. Comfortable in himself and passionate about education, Mr Bergstrom is the perfect teacher. He engages with the children, trying to find ways to get through to them, and encouraging each of the students to believe in their own self-worth. In short, hes the teacher every child deserves to have. If there were a Mr Bergstrom in every classroom across the globe, all the worlds problems would be solved within a generation. The sad thing about this of course, is that there isnt. And by the end of the episode there isnt even a Mr Bergstrom in Springfield. In a heartbreaking scene at the train station, Lisa comes up against the problem with being middle class: Anybody who really cares will abandon you for those who need it more. She is left with his memory, and a handwritten note telling her all you need to know:
