8 DC Comics Characters The Arrowverse Has Saved

4. Cat Grant

Supergirl has made some major changes to several DC comics characters. We've already discussed Mon-El, Winn Schott is a loose version of a villain from the comics, and James Olsen is so different he might as well be a whole new character. One of the show's best revamps, though, is the one who became its finest supporting character - Callista Flockhart's Cat Grant.

In the comics, Cat Grant was introduced to be a third wheel in the Lois and Clark love story. Though she was at first a softer, pleasant person, she later became tougher and more of a cougar type, aggressively flirting with Clark and setting her sights on him. In short, the character was mostly defined by her relationship with Clark.

When Supergirl came along, though, it repositioned Cat as a kind of female Perry White or J. Jonah Jameson. This Cat wasn't a lowly reporter but the head of a media empire. Smart, sassy and with a knack for uplifting pep talks, the show is always better when Cat is on board - her season two replacement Snapper Carr was a huge bore.

Supergirl's version of Cat is so successful, the comics character has since been revamped to closely resemble the one on the show.
