8 Doctor Who Fan Theories That Are Better Than Reality

1. The Woman In The Shop

The Eleventh Doctor encountered Clara Oswald for the third time (and it was to be a case of 'third time lucky' for our impossible girl because she didn't die this time - hurrah!) in The Bells of Saint John when she was given a number that put her directly through to the TARDIS itself. As you can imagine, not many people are given exclusive access to the police box's coveted hotline so the Time Lord was just as confused as the rest of us when she claimed to have been given it by a woman in a shop. This mysterious figure wasn't exactly lying when she promised Clara it was the best helpline in the universe but just who was she and how on Earth did she get the number in the first place? Well, it eventually transpired in the Series 8 finale that Missy was the culprit, however the almighty revelation came to pass through an anticlimactic passing remark which left most fans even more confused about the whole situation than they had been before. She had seemingly done it as part of her ongoing ploy to keep the Doctor and Clara together but her motives beyond that remain unclear. That's why it's much more satisfying to pretend that River Song gave Clara the number instead, and that's probably the explanation that most of us have chosen to believe. It makes much more sense that River would be looking out for the Doctor in this way and let's face it, when anything else has happened in the recent past, she's usually been the one behind it. Actually, let's just say that everything that doesn't make sense in the Doctor Who universe is somehow down to her. If nothing else, it'll help us sleep at night. What did you think of this list? Are there any other Doctor Who fan theories that are better than what actually happened? Let us know in the comments section below.
