8 Doctor Who Moments The Creators Don't Like

1. Billie Piper Hated Rose's Exit In Journey's End

If you count her roles in The Day Of The Doctor and The End Of Time, then Billie Piper has had four different Doctor Who "goodbyes", but if you stick to the main story arc of Rose Tyler, then she's only had two: one in Doomsday, and another in Journey's End.

For fans who grew up with NuWho as a Saturday tradition, the Doomsday farewell is one of the saddest moments of their childhood, but things did ultimately end on a happy note (sort of) in Journey's End, where Rose was left on a parallel Earth with a clone of the Doctor - and a "grow-your-own-TARDIS" kit - for company.

It does feel a bit weird for Rose to be lumped with this discount Doctor, but regardless, the character seems perfectly okay with the arrangement. She's actually so preoccupied with snogging the clone's face off that she doesn't notice the real Doctor sneaking back to his TARDIS. It's not quite a fairytale ending... but it's close enough.

However, Piper herself? Well, she wasn't a fan of how things concluded.

Just last year, the actress came out and openly stated that she "hated" this ending for Rose, calling the clone Doctor a "lesser" version of the real Doctor, while also taking shots at the clone's decision to wear a t-shirt with a blazer. Fair criticism.

Piper also stated that this send-off was a "loss" for Rose, although she did add that she'd love to know what her character is getting up to in that parallel world.

Somebody greenlight a spin-off!

Danny has been with WhatCulture for almost nine years, and is currently Doctor Who Editor and WhoCulture Channel Manager, overseeing all of WhatCulture's Whoniverse coverage. He has been writing and video editing for 10+ years, and first got a taste for content creation after making his own Doctor Who trailers and uploading them to YouTube (they're admittedly a bit rusty by today's standards). If you need someone to recite every Doctor Who episode in order or to tell you about the making of 1988's Remembrance of the Daleks, Danny is the person to ask.
