8 Funniest Cold Opens In TV History

5. Parks And Recreation - "I'm Just A Little Puuh-pey"

Another Michael Schur show that, following in the footsteps of its godfather The Office, often used cold opens to great effect. Season 2's Telethon episode was a high watermark for the sitcom, an ambitious entry that announced once and for all that Parks and Rec had finally grown out of Michael Scott's lengthy shadow and found its own distinct, warm voice.

This warmth and wit was on full display in the episode's cold open, in which Chris Pratt's Andy shows off his neighbour's puppy that needs adopting. After some brisk, funny banter between Andy and Ron Swanson ("what, and shoot him?!"), the puppy gets a little too friendly with Ron's luxurious facial hair. Who could forget seeing Ron Swanson’s moustache being licked by an adorable puppy? Who could ask for anything more?
