￼With seemingly every popular series of books being optioned by Hollywood, many readers will have had some of their favourite literary works either faithfully adapted or ceremoniously ruined by their big screen counterparts (unfortunately the latter opinion seems to be the most common). After the success of the Harry Potter, Twilight and JRR Tolkien series of films, this trend doesn't look to be letting up any time soon. On the small screen however, a number of recent shows have provided quality entertainment whilst staying true to the elements of their source materials that made readers fall in love in the first place. Game Of Thrones, Homeland, The Walking Dead, True Blood and Sherlock are just a few examples of shows that have taken the core principles of their respected series' and adapted them into enjoyable and fresh takes that readers can enjoy.
