8 Great TV Shows That Would Have Had Incredible Prequels
4. Schmidt At College - New Girl
The Premise: Schmidt has just found his confidence; with friends Winston and Nick by his side, he embarks on a new life of romance and excitement. Schmidt At College might come with a ridiculously bad title, but it's also a show that seems obvious. The true star of New Girl - flanked by the other two guys - gets his own shot in the limelight. Yes, it's pretty much New Girl in a new place and a few years before without Zooey Deschanel, but that's what makes a Schmidt prequel/spin-off so appealing; he's easily the most loved character of the bunch - at least he was at the start, before things started spiralling out of control - so it makes sense to not only make him the lead, but take him back to a more likeable phase of his life. It also makes sense to get rid of Zooey Deschanel given that she's, the most annoying of the bunch. Starting the show with Schmidt excited about life and centring on the popular dynamic between the guys just seems like the most obvious answer to such an opinion-dividing sitcom.
