Effy Stonem is one of the few characters in Skins to appear consistently across multiple seasons.

Originally the quiet sister of Tony (more on him later), Effy grows slowly over the first two seasons, before becoming a fully-fledged main character by the third and fourth.

Effy got some truly meaty storylines in these seasons, including developing mental health problems and having her boyfriend, Freddie, murdered by her psychiatrist.

Effy is played by Brazilian-English actor, Kaya Scodelario, who is the longest-serving cast member in Skins history.

After Skins, Scodelario went onto star in The Maze Runner series. She played Teresa in the adaptations of the popular young adult books, a role that seriously raised her profile outside of the UK.

She then went onto play Carina Smyth, the estranged daughter of Geoffrey Rush's Captain Barbossa in the Pirates of the Caribbean sequel, Dead Men Tell No Tales. But don't hold that against her.

She also scored a major role in the Ted Bundy biopic, Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile, as well as the lead role in cult-hit horror, Crawl.

From a 14-year-old with no acting experience to a rising star in Hollywood, Kaya Scodelario has come a long way from being Tony Stonem's sister.
