8 Incredible Anime Series You Need To Watch In 2019

If you think you've heard the name Dororo before, then you're probably right. The story of Dororo has been around for decades and is one that has seen many adaptations over the years. However, the 2019 remake deserves a lot of credit for bringing some new life into an old, yet still very good story.

The shows centers around two characters, the aforementioned Dororo, an orphaned thief hiding a dark secret and Hyakkimaru, a ronin who has to wear prosthetic limbs due to his original limbs being taken away by 48 demons when he was a baby. There's a whole father-son back story that would be a major spoiler for those who don't know the story already, so we won't go into too much detail. However, it's safe to say that that sins of the father clearly haunt this sword wielding samurai.

As the story premise is already well known, the real change in this show is the art style. The way original manga was drawn made the characters look cute and playful, but that's not the case for the 2019 version.

Satoshi Iwataki, the man in charge of the character designs, has given the characters a more realistic and modern look. Not only does this have an impact on the show overall, but it especially rings true when the actions scenes happen because they're simply gorgeous.
